Yangon

Myanmar has always been one of Southeast Asia’s most popular bucket-list destinations but, only in recent years, with visa restrictions being eased for Japan, South Korea, China and select European countries, has the mysterious nation become a viable travel option. Yangon, the country’s former administrative capital, is often considered the gateway to the once closed-off Myanmar. The old capital is quickly meeting demands for travellers who are more interested in the finer things in life.

There are some recommended destinations you can refer when traveling in Yangon:

Visiting Shwedagon Pagoda- a special pagoda in Yangon

One of the most impressive and sacred Buddhist sites in Myanmar. It is a towering structure that dominates the skyline of Yangon, adorned with gold plates, jewels and bells. The pagoda is said to enshrine relics of four ancient Buddhas, and attracts pilgrims and tourists from all over the world. The best time to visit is at sunset, when the golden stupa glows with a magical light. Shwedagon Pagoda is not only a stunning monument, but also a living testimony of the faith and devotion of the Myanmar people.

Visiting Sule Pagoda- a holy space in Yangon

When you visit to downtown place of Yangon, you will see Sule Pagoda. It is located in the middle of the road.   The Sule Pagoda, found in the city center, is estimated to be about 2,000 years old. It is certainly a stunning structure, with its golden leaves and shining mirrors reflecting the sunlight during the day and lit up after dark.

Sule is a special pagoda which has great meaning of not only culture and religion but also a symbol of this city. The main reason is that it is located in the center of Yangon and at the intersection of the biggest and most beautiful roads.

Kandawgyi Park- a beautiful nature space

If you are a nature lover and want to travel a quiet destination, Kandawgyi Park is really an ideal place for you. Its area is very large with lake, flower garden, children play’s area, mini zoo and so on. Visiting this park, you will certainly dip into fresh air which can make your soul relaxing and comfortable. Besides going around the campus, you can hire a boat to explore the beautiful landscapes on the lake.

Like many of Myanmar’s delicious neighbors, the cuisine in this country is a fusion of flavors, ingredients, and dishes that have come together to make this country one of the most coveted among foodies. Those who crave a unique main course may opt for nangyi thoke, while those with a palate craving something different may instead try Myanmar’s famous tea leaf salad, that is chock full of nuts, tea leaves, and shrimp sauce, making for one of the world’s most interesting salads.

Nestled on the edge of Southeast Asia, Myanmar is a beautiful, vast country full of rich tradition, delicious food and gorgeous natural sights. Visitors from all walks of life can find reasons to visit and fall in love with this wondrous ancient land.
