To enhance road transport cooperation between two countries Laos and Thailand, representatives from Thailand’s Transport Company, the Department of Land Transport (DLT) of Thailand, and the Lao Department of Transport has been meeting up on 4th - 5th September, 2024 in Vientiane, Laos. After the meeting, both countries' representatives decided to launch a new international bus route between Udon Thani in Thailand with Vang Vieng in Laos. The first trip should begin in early November and this route will link to the Laos-China railway.
Tickets could be purchased online and through E-Ticket systems across all routes to iming to provide travelers with more flexible options.

From 21st to 24th August 2024, Lao Airlines was honored to participate in the China – Lanexang – Mekong Industry Education Integration Achievement Exhibition and Exchange. Passport & Visa
Passport with at least 6 months validity is required and a valid visa is also needed for tourists from many countries to enter Laos. Please pre-check to know if your nationality is in the list and you need or do not need a visa to enter Laos.
Immigration Form
For international flights, you're required to fill in and present an arrival/departure document at the immigration gate. This document will be delivered to you on your flight or is available in the immigration hall at your arrival airport.
For international travelers entering South Korea, you may be required to complete K-ETA (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization) online.
Customs Form
Customs form to declare any good/valuables you may take into the country is required. This document will be passed to you onboard your flight or is available in the customs hall at your arrival airport.

On July 23, 2024, Mr. Khamlar Phommavanh, CEO of Lao Airlines, along with other executives, welcomed Mr. Kim Yung-Rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Mr. Kim San, Governor of Muan-gun, and Mr. Lee Jeong-ki, Director of the Korea Airports Corporation, for a meeting to discuss and promote new flight routes between Vientiane-Muan-Vientiane and Luang Prabang-Muan-Luang Prabang.
This collaboration aims to enhance tourism, economic, and communication ties between Laos and South Korea. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to formalize the cooperation between Lao Airlines, Jeollanam-do province, Muan-gun county, and the Korea Airports Corporation. This partnership is set to bring about maximum efficiency and effectiveness in the new flight routes.

Please find the curent requirements for entry into Laos eff. from 09 May 2023 as follows:
- All international borders are open for foreign travelers.
- Visa exemptions, visas-on-arrival, and E-visas are in place.
- Private and public transport vehicles are allowed to enter and exit Laos.
- Foreigners entering Laos who contract COVID-19 shall be responsible for their own treatment costs
–Fully Vaccinated Travelers–
- Certificate of Vaccination
Unvaccinated or Partially Vaccinated Travelers
- Certificate of Vaccination is not required
- ATK test result issued within 48 hours before departure to the Lao PDR, except for children under 12 years old
Other Major Changes:
The following processes and documents are not required:
- RT-PCR Test before departure
- ATK test on arrival for fully vaccinated travelers
- Proof of COVID-19 insurance
- Lao Green Pass registration
- Quarantine
