Baggage policy
If you are traveling solely on Thai Smile flight for the whole of your journey, please familiarize yourself with our baggage rules as follows:

- Each passenger is only allowed to check one piece of baggage, with a maximum dimension of 158 cm per piece.
II. Hand baggage
a. Each passenger is allowed to bring 1 piece of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg and the sum of the three dimensions shall not exceed 115 cm (30 cm x 60 cm x 18 cm) or (12 x 24 x 7 inches).
The airline may refuse carry-on baggage and may require the passenger to check in baggage if it exceeds the quantity, weight, and dimensions specified above.
Special case: For the Route Luang Namtha (LGX) - Vientiane (VTE) v.v and Oudomsay Airport (ODY) - Vientiane (VTE) v.v for OW fare, maximum hand baggage is 5 kg.
b. In addition to the standard hand baggage allowance, each passenger can bring the following items free of charge:
- A handbag, pocketbook, or lady’s purse, i.e., which is appropriate to normal traveling dress and is not used as a container for the transportation of articles that would otherwise be regarded as baggage.
- An overcoat, wrap, or blanket
- An umbrella or walking stick (except one with a metal-filled sharp pointed end)
- A reasonable amount of reading materials for in-flight reading only
- Infant’s food for consumption in flight
- Infant’s carrying basket or bassinet
- A fully collapsible wheelchair
- A pair of crutches and/or braces or another prosthetic device for the passenger’s use.
***Note: If your journey involves a connection to another carrier (s), you are advised to check with these carriers for details of their policies and ensure compliance.
III. Prepaid Baggage

- Rates can change at any time without prior notice following a policy of Garuda Airlines.

V. Special Baggage

| Bicycles |
They must be properly packed in a strong purpose-made cardboard box. Tires should be deflated, pedals removed, handlebars turned, and fixed lengthways. The maximum weight is 10kg. |
| Golf bags and club sets |
Must be carried as cargo or checked baggage. 1 golf set including a pair of golf shoes is allowed per passenger with a maximum weight of 10kg. |
| Sports equipment |
Included in the checked baggage allowance. If weight exceeding the standard free baggage allowance shall be subject to the applicable excess baggage charges. |
VI. Items unacceptable as Baggage
You are not allowed to bring the following items in the baggage for safety reasons:
- Compressed gases (flammable, non-flammable, and poisonous) such as butane, oxygen, propane, aqualung cylinders
- Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, and wet-cell batteries
- Etiologic agents (bacteria, viruses, etc.)
- Explosives, munitions, fireworks, and flares
- Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter or heater fuels, matches, and articles that are easily ignited
- Radio-active materials
- Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder peroxides
- Poisons such as arsenic, cyanides, insecticides, weedkillers
- Other restricted articles such as mercury, magnetized material, and offensive or irritating materials. Medicinal and toilet articles in limited quantities that are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during the journey, such as hair sprays, perfumes, and medicines containing alcohol may be carried.
VI. Right to refuse carriage
The carrier may refuse to carry as Baggage the items described in Article V, and we may refuse further carriage of any such items upon discovery that it is included in your Baggage. Unless advance arrangements for its carriage have been made with us, we may carry on later flights Baggage, which is in excess of the applicable free allowance.
The carrier may refuse to accept Baggage as Checked Baggage unless it is properly and securely packed in suitcases and suitable containers to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling.
